A journey from Auckland to Wellington, through Hamilton, Taupo, Napier, and Palmerston North. We have settled into Dave and Rachel's house in Seatoun, a suburb of Wellington. Here are pictures. Another bunch of random stuff. Dave getting his hair cut, and a lot of scenic pics of Wellington and Seatoun from a large hill in Seatoun. Rachel and Dave are fixing up their house. Here are pics. Also, we went looking for houses. Here are other pics. Finally, we saw a tornado and rainbow. Those pictures didn't turn out so well, but there they are, over the ocean and rocks. The tornado/rainbow pictures are actually in the middle of the session. Rachel's birthday took us out to the New Zealand bush. We roughed it for several hours while having a birthday party. Truly Kiwi style. I've visited more of Breaker Bay, and gone to the rose garden near the top of one of the hills in Wellington. Here are some pictures to make you happy. The moving company brought my box to my house. In preparation, I opened the doors very wide so I could bring in what I needed. The nice man put the box right in front of my door. I didn't notice until later while I was trying to figure out how to open the box. Here are some pictures. The box is too heavy to move, so I don't know what I'll do. I have some friends on the way over with heavy tools to maybe help. As you might've guessed, the box got moved out of the way, thanks to That Fleps, who has saved my assock more than oncet. I finally got the box out of the way and moved everything into a flat that I'd gotten. It'd now been one month I was in New Zealand. I had a job, a flat, my stuff from the United States... wow. I was stylin'. First thing hooked up? Well, duh. The computer and the stereo system. What is a man without tunes and pr0n? Uncivilised. That's what. These two are inexplicable. Pictures of Fenny and I frying up Apple Fritters. Rachel had a baby! Her name is Zuni. Dave was frazzled. Everyone was amused and happy. Well, Rachel was exhausted, too. One night we ate at an indian restaurant and folks pointed their forks at me. But then, the next day, we went for a buggy ride whilst holding onto a big kite in the midst of a large, green rugby field. Danger was all around, but we Braved It. See the pictures. These are two different evenings where Mike showed us his terrifying Tesla Coil, which was really a Great Prawn Killing Machine in disguise. All you unbelievers should feel a little relief knowing this guy is out there thinking of YOUR well-being. Just some random pictures of flying kites and doing Christmas around, oh, say Christmas time. Fenny and I had a birthday party for her, and I took pictures of her hair perm she got whilst in Taiwan. Where you can see me doing strange things to you. Tim Bishop of San Francisco fame has arrived, and we went skiing and snowboarding in the Turoa ski fields. Here's the documentary of these momentous occasions. We decided to go hiking up Kapiti Island on the west coast of the north island of New Zealand. It turned out to be a lot of hard hiking. The birds really weren't too plentiful, so you won't see many pictures of them. Aron and Nush have a party! Whoo! Join us, virtually, by looking at our ultra-blurry semi-off-colour photographs. Aron being Evil Clown man! Nush explaining things! Buzzy with a sideways head! Dave's ass! Tim, Fenny, and Time work their way to the top of Mount Victoria, braving the elements and the long months without nourishment to accomplish what only... uh... 30 tourists per hour do. This evening, I took some pictures at dusk. Pictures of fun things, like a meeting at Datacom/NZ Post, and stuff. Then I went walking down by Queen's Wharf and took pictures of little colourful things. Fenny and I made our way to New World \(a pretentious name for a grocery store\) and bought stuff. Then came home. But that doesn't mean I didn't get any cool pictures out of it. Also, you get to see me the night before, doing self portraits, because my hair has been cut. Again we destroy Mount Vic with our feet. Halfway to the top in twelve minutes, with time to spare! Yowzers! There is a treasure at the end of every rainbow. Whilst staying in New Zealand, Fenny and I took a week or two to visit Taiwan to watch her brother get married, and to tour the island of Taiwan. This is a whole set of pictures to itself. This is the unabridged version of the New Zealand tour I took in my last days in New Zealand. All pictures are here, with commentary. The second two links are abridged versions of the same, split for North and South island portions of the journey. |
