Piano Music of Philo Vivero

Yamaha Motif 8

The Yamaha Motif 8 is a beautifully-engineered piece of weighted 88-note keyboard action. The built-in piano sounds are a little bright and inexpressive due to their intent to be used in a mix or during jam sessions. But with a little programming, the piano sound can be made much more expressive (dull the sound on soft keypresses).

This is the first piano song I've recorded on the Yamaha Motif. It is a tribute to the age of Rags, with a bit of a Joplinesque feel (if I do say so myself). I call it Ragged Rain.

Music for a Summer Day

A couple of years back I bought a Roland A90/ex, which is possibly the premier piano imposter keyboard that exists. Its piano sounds are unrivalled -- having been stereo sampled from several of the world's finest pianos, including the Steinway Grand.

I spent a few weeks recording a little CD for my friends and family, most of it improvisation, but some was some music I had composed a few years earlier yet (eg Baroque I and II). I present this album to you rough and uncut. There are errors during these performances, mostly due to the fact that 80% of it is improvised.

Track 1 - Little Star
Track 2 - Baroque I
Track 3 - Downlines Road
Track 4 - Untitled I
Track 5 - Baroque II
Track 6 - Untitled II
Track 7 - Untitled III
Track 8 - Symphonie Electronique (Chamber Orchestra Version)

Flight Gear Themesong Tests

Flight Gear is a nice flight simulator for Linux. I wrote some music that was inspired from flying around their virtual world. All of these are improvised variations on a theme.
